the country i choose united states the city of Chicago i will be referring to the troops breaking of rail strike with 34 killed. what happen is that there was a militant struggle of workers at the Pullman railway car company in Chicago against wage cuts and sackings.14,000 police, militia and soldiers crushed the strike, leaving over 30 dead and many more wounded and jailed. In June 1894, workers at the Pullman Palace Car Company decided to walk out. in the first months of the strike a Methodist pastor in the company town of Pullman in position for three years Reverend William H. Carwardine was sent away after he supported the strikers. The Pullman strikers appealed to a convention of the American Railway Union for support.the proximate cause of the strike was the discharge of two members of the grievance committee, Five reductions in wages. The last was the most severe, amounting to nearly thirty percent, and rents had not fallen. The American Railway Union responded. the union asked its members all over the country not to handle Pullman cars since virtually all passenger trains had Pullman cars, this amounted to a boycott of all trains—a nationwide strike. The American Railway Union responded. It asked its members all over the country not to handle Pullman cars. Since virtually all passenger trains had Pullman cars, this amounted to a boycott of all trains—a nationwide strike. Soon all traffic on the twenty-four railroad lines leading out of Chicago had come to a halt. Workers derailed freight cars, blocked tracks, pulled engineers off trains if they refused to cooperate. The General Managers Association, representing the railroad owners, agreed to pay two thousand deputies, sent in to break the strike. But the strike went on. The Attorney General of the United States, Richard Olney, a former railroad lawyer, now got a court injunction against blocking trains, on the legal ground that the federal mails were being interfered with. When the strikers ignored the injunction, President Cleveland ordered federal troops to Chicago.this is why Chicago was the place to be for this intervention. to conclude this intervention the bottom should mount out to be fair in all corners of the military.

I am really surprised to hear that the Military had to be called in to break a strike. This makes me think about marches and protests. The marches and protesters come with solidarity, bullhorns and signs and the police come in combat gear with guns, dogs and call in the Military. I hate to hear that people have been killed as a result of the strike and I am impressed at the strength of the union.

The country that I choose to talk about is Panama. On December 20, 1989 the actual attack on Panama was launched. George Bush ordered, "Operation Just Cause" because a former officer of the Panamanian defense force publicly accused the president of being corrupt and working with the Colombian cartel. Shortly after, the president said that America and Panama "were in a state of war." Another reason that America declared war was because an American soldier was killed and the United States government had reason to believe that president Noriega was reelecting himself. Anyone who protested against Noriega was killed and/or silenced. I believe that America wanted to stop Noriega because he were suppressing democracy. All the different articles that I have read all state that president Noriega was working with drug cartels and that the CIA had been tracking him of illegal drug trafficking. In doing so he was silencing his people as a president and needed to be removed from presidency.

It really bothers me that because we go to war and our soldier’s lives are put in jeopardy because someone says something to offend the president. I do agree with the war to redeem the life of the solider that was killed. However if we hadn’t been at war at all the solider probably wouldn’t have gotten killed.

The country I choose was Grenada. In 1983 the United States launched an attacked on Grenada. The attack began on October 25 and was a result of the death of the Prime Minister Maurice Bishop. After the death of Maurice Bishop there was a break down in civil order and cause the American Medical Students that were in Grenada at that time to be in danger. In an effort to rescue the students and along with the request of the Caribbean nations the United States launched Operation Urgent Fury. The Marines were sent to the north side of the island and the Army Rangers were sent to the south. While the United States was fighting in Grenada they found themselves without the adequate equipment needed to locate the students. They also found themselves up against some great resistance from the Grenadian Army and its Cuban allies that they hadn’t expected. Despite the resistance the United States was able to eventually take control over Grenada around the middle of December. It has been said that President Regan led this invasion to rid the world of Communism. It was also said to be called a lovely little war as well as a coup. Grenada is the smallest Caribbean Island on the Western Hemisphere and was no match for the American military. I find it strange that when I read about wars that have taken place the reasons given by the media is hardly ever what really has taken place. It makes me wonder what the real reasons are.
