In south African culture although there has been a fight to try and end the abuse of human rights. They threaten there people with the removal of freedom of speech , unemployment and threats of corruption. The government in these region have failed to address the xenophobia violence that is occurring in these regions. The use of this violence is military people going in to homes and taking foreigners. Reports abut the insistent that happened are some in KwaZulu-Natal. These people migrating to South Africa are people trying to escape political intolerance and the poverty of their regions. Although the lack of resources in south Africa the high rates in poverty and more people have tried to unite as a whole and march in the streets asking for a better united South Africa. Because of this struck fear people remain in refugee camps waiting to be sent back to their home country even if it means that they have to go back to a harder life.

"Violence against women, including rape and domestic violence, remains very high. South Africa continues to play an important but inconsistent role in advancing the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people."
their right to freedom and their right to protest and have speech is taken the freedom o frelioion by intimidation is also being taken from these people by prohibiting them of having a safe space and to protest the outreach events happening

Its really sad that they have a specific way they want things and don't want to see any changes. And I feel strongly about domestic violence and rape towards women because they are the ones who are mostly targeted in many levels. However the saddest part that if a man is gay they would automatically kill him without a second doubt and would think its funny. When it's really not at all, especially when go to the schools and are teaching the youth that being lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender is a sin and makes all the lies that are not true.

It’s hard to hear about a nation who is already in struggle economically, struggle in giving its own people human rights. I’m glad you brought up the fact about people having no say in their government because this is a big human violation. In a country where people don’t have a say in what goes on , that country is usually in suffer like south Africa is right now.

I thought the government was suppose to help the people. It's sad learning that the government of this region is basically denying the help and safety of this region. When problems like this arise, I think neighboring countries, even the U.S should interfere.

Although I wasn't very surprised to know about women being denied their rights, I was surprised to know that their very own government there is a lot of atrocities happening. In many countries, including the U.S, suffer from discrimination against women. It may not seem very obvious like South Africa but in many places there is some sort of hierarchy for women, some places more brutal than others.

Morocco is a country located in North Africa. It is mostly known for its Muslim religion and as a Constitutional monarchy. The country doesn’t have many laws that protects people’s rights. For example, there is a law called Penal Code Article 206 which says, “A person is guilty of harming internal state security … if he, directly or indirectly, receives [support from abroad intended, or used, to finance] an activity or propaganda capable of harming the integrity, sovereignty or independence of the kingdom, or shaking the loyalty that citizens owe to the state and the institutions of the Moroccan people” (Cairo, 2015).
This law prevents the people from freedom of speech, freedom of the press, right to assemble and freedom of association. The citizens aren’t allowed to speak their mind and can’t speak against the government. Many activists are forced to go to trial and face an imprisonment for up to five years. Many journalists are imprisoned for publishing articles that seem “wrong” in the eyes of the government.
Another injustice that is happening in Morocco is that there aren’t laws that protect women against domestic violence. The police do not protect women or punish their abusers. For example, a women named Jihan, was raped and beaten by her husband who even tried to cut her face but ended up cutting her arm. She wants to divorce her husband, but can’t because her husband doesn’t want to and her dad doesn’t want to give her marriage certificate. This is what her father said, “In our family, no women get divorced. Stay with him even if he wants to kill you.” (Stay With Him Even If He Wants To Kill You, 2016). In “Morocco 63% of women reported physical, psychological, sexual or economic violence.” (Stay With Him Even If He Wants To Kill You, 2016).
Women's rights aren't being upheld and they're being tortured by their husbands.Their abusers aren’t punished and the women have to live in fear. Women aren’t allowed to live free from abuse and are forced to live with men who only hurt them. Women are scared to speak up out of fear that their husbands will kill them.

Marielos I agree with you because people have the right to freedom of speech, freedom of the press, right to assemble and freedom of association. They shouldn’t be punished for speaking their mind . People should have the right to say what they want against their government and not be threatened to be punished. I think that it is really sad that a woman’s own father won’t let her divorce her abusive husband. I understand that in some countries there are strict marriage traditions. She should have the right to be able to divorce him because he’s causing her physical and mental damage. It’s unfair and crazy that certain women have to live in fear due to their abusers threatening them and being near them. If she is not allowed to divorce her husband at the most she should be allowed to live away from him or live in a separate house.

It is hard knowing that a lot of people in the world including morocco do not have the human rights that they deserve. The people living in Morocco should unite and create a movement to stop all the unfairness. I know it can be hard but starting somewhere would help alot.

In chinese culture there are a lot of violations revolving freedom of expression, assembly, association, and freedom. For example,” The government censors the press, the Internet, print publications, and academic research, and justifies human rights abuses as necessary to preserve “social stability.” This is prohibiting people to have a connection to the outside world. In specific regions of china different ethnic minorities are targeted such as their educational system targeting young individuals with disabilities. For example,” Official and scholarly statistics, based on law enforcement reports, suggest there are 300-500 protests each day, with anywhere from ten to tens of thousands of participants.” With these protests come activists trying to defend their human rights we see here that in china internet users are challenging the censorship law by exposing these corrupt individuals online. The basic rights that we usually take for granted here in the united states are the same rights that these people in this region believe and want to be able to have. Here we have the violation of freedom of assembly by trying to dismantled the unions that are going against this political corruption. We also have the violation of freedom of expression trying to punish any individual who exposes these corrupt individual weather it is in the internet personally. Association freedoms are being violated to so they can't join any group or associations that can potentially threaten the government in any way.

Its actually not a shock that the chine cultures are very conserved. Im surprised people have yet not over thrown this kind of government. How long till this happens ? Although they are the most successful in education dosen't mean they are the most informed about the things that are occurring in the outside world.

North Korea has been a controversial country for many reasons, but aside from its isolation it is extremely governed by the supreme leader. Human rights are extremely rare because the people don't have power or voice. They have no freedom of speech at all for any circumstance. If they speak out the consequences could be as severe as the person getting tortured or killed. ‘’Common forms of torture include kicking and slapping, beatings with iron rods or sticks, being forced to remain in stress positions for hours, sleep deprivation, and, for female detainees, sexual abuse and rape.’’(W.R.,2015)People basically don't have control over their own lives since the government has the people over watched. There is also forced prostitution that drafts women starting from age 14. Humans living inside North Korea adapt to living there, yet their freedoms all of their freedoms are taken away in return for ''protection''. They don't have any rights to help them against a crime they committed even if is just looting. The people have just been through hell living in a totalitarian driven country. The people also don’t have the right to speak out on the government. They can’t express their beliefs or thoughts of how their government is or works. Like previously mentioned this would lead to a severe consequence. It could get so severe so that even the offender's entire family would get convicted and charged even if they have nothing to do with one person’s involvement all just suffer. There is political camps scattered throughout the country that sends people who are convicted with political crimes. ‘’These camps are characterized by systematic abuses and often deadly conditions, including meager rations that lead to near-starvation, virtually no medical care, lack of proper housing and clothes, regular mistreatment including sexual assault and torture by guards, and executions.’’(UN,2016)

I agree with you that North Korea is known for being controversial for many reasons. I think that people should be able to speak their mind without being beat up with brutal force. It seems as if North Korea takes advantage of the power it has because it has many unnecessary measures. I think it is wrong to force women into prostitution, because they are human and don’t deserve that treatment. I agree with you on the point also that they place so many restrictions on their people in exchange for “protection”. Countries don’t provide their so called “protection” they just betray, lie and abuse the power they have even more.

The people that disagree with all the un human laws in North Korea are probably scared on making a change like a movement because they know they can get put to those camps.

It is true that North Korea violates its citizens basic human rights. They are treated as if they don't have any types of rights. It's just so inhumane and cruel. Who is capable of doing such atrocities against humans. The government has been known to imprison its people for nothing really. They are compared to the concentration camps Hitler started. These North Korean camps serve the same purpose too. They have killed and tortured people in such ridiculous quantities.

Every human in this world is born the same. We are all human in this world. Also apparently we all have the same rights, human rights that's what they are. Everyone has the freedom of speech. But people are but in jail for speaking there minds. No human shall be held to slavery. But there is still slavery in the world a lot of it. Everyone has the freedom to practice any religion. But why are there still people in this world getting punished for their beliefs. In North Korea human rights are severely limited. There is no free speech. Isn't the freedom of speech in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights? When trying to speak your mind in North Korea there are ugly consequences. You can get arrested or tortured by officials. When it comes to females that's just wrong. They can get raped or sexually abused. Also committing a crime can lead to the death penalty. In North Korea all media and publications are state controlled, and unauthorized access to non-state radio or TV broadcasts is punished. Internet and phone calls are limited within the county and are heavily censored. North Koreans are punished if found with mobile media such as computer flash drives or DVDs. Yes I get there leader has his own beliefs for “his” country, but the people in North Korea don't belief in what he beliefs in. Damn you ain't gotta be a deadly communist country. Relax man.

North Korea has been one of the most repressive country for the longest. In the article Human Rights Watch , it was stated “All basic freedoms have been severely restricted under the Kim family’s political dynasty.” North Korea is under control of Kim Jong-Un. North Korea are being violated from their human rights. For example, in the article Human Rights Watch stated, “ North Koreans also face severe penalties for possessing unauthorized videos of foreign TV programs and movies or communicating with persons outside the country.” This violates their rights to able to communicate with anyone of watch any TV shows or programs they wish to watch. Anyone should be able to talk to anyone they want from anywhere or watch anything. Another example , in the article Human Rights Watch also stated , “All media and publications are state-controlled, and unauthorized access to non-state radio or TV broadcasts is punished. Internet and phone calls are limited within the country and are heavily censored. North Koreans are punished if found with mobile media such as computer flash drives or DVDs containing unauthorized videos of foreign films or TV dramas.” Basically everything is being violated and basically they are being controlled completely. They have to learn to live that way. If they try to do anything about it like protest they will be punished badly.

Humans rights are the rights that every human is entitled to when they are born. Unfortunately in countries all over the world these human rights are being denied or taken away . In some places they’re a few violations , but in some countries human rights are completely stripped from people. An example of this is North Korea where it’s people are basically completely stripped from their human rights. The Kim family’s political dynasty has done horrible things to the people of this country. Some of these horrid things include extermination, murder, torture, imprisonment, and rape. These are just some of the horrible violation of human rights in this country. North Korea also has secret prison camps in which they have people face torture, abuse, and starvation. Any person that speaks out on the government will be sent to these prison camps. People are deprived from their freedom of speech with no independent media in the country, the media is controlled by the government. They have no kind of religious freedom and they worship dictator Kim as a god, even though he has committed a lot of atrocities. Of course the people don’t know this with the media being controlled by the government. They are fed false stories of dictator Kim about how he helps his people that makes him look like an angel. In conclusion North Korea is one of the most repressive countries in the world.

I find it very scary how North Koreans are taught to believe that Kim, their ruler, is a god. They worship him as if he is their savior when in reality he has done more harm than good. We all know that North Koreans have little to no rights what so ever and they still don't see that he is the cause for their suffering.

It’s sad how they aren’t educated regarding the rights that they have and even if they were it would be risky and many wouldn’t have the guts to face their leader because of fear. Human rights are rights that we have because we are human, they apply to each and every one of us. The country I researched was the United States. The group of people currently unable to express their human rights are immigrants. The fundamental right being restricted is right to liberty. There is not immigrants just in the U.S there is also immigrants all over the world. Immigrants are often times seen as threats anywhere they go, because they are considered as “outsiders”. People fail to realize that immigrants are just like us, human. Certain immigrants are restricted a few rights depending the country they are in.Often times immigrants are unaware of the rights guaranteed to them. According to the article ‘How Immigration Can Enhance and Restrict Liberty’ FRIEDERSDORF states “The more it means our liberty must be restricted to accommodate immigrants—and even their descendants—the more we should worry about immigration”. To me this means that the U.S is making it seem as if immigrants take away their rights. In reality it’s the other way around countries like the U.S take away certain rights away from immigrants. Most people in the U.S are citizens they don’t get their rights taken away unless they commit a serious crime. Indeed people are still oppressed due to not being white and receiving privilege. Yet to me it sounds like this quote is saying that immigrants are a threat to people’s liberty in the U.S. The threat immigrants face is being in the U.s because society does not openly accept them. Society makes it difficult for anyone who is not from the country to be accepted. From mean mugs, stereotypes, racism, oppression and so on people in the U.S believe that immigrants take their rights away, when in reality they do no such thing. Another way in which immigrants are restricted liberty in the U.S is that they face rejection. Friedersdorf the author includes the following in the article; "For many current and potential immigrants, denying them entry or deporting them once they have arrived means consigning them to a life of poverty and oppression in Third World countries”. The U.s doesn’t take any consideration whatsoever as to why people are fleeing their countries. If everything were so great in their countries people would not come to the U.S to begin with. Often times we think America is great with it’s American Dream but it is not. A country that rejects people that are seeking help and a better way of life is cruel. The U.S doesn’t ask or wait for any explanation they just reject and deport people. Society in the U.S restricts liberty to immigrants by leaving them no choice but to go back to the environment they were trying to get away from. These are two ways in which the U.S restricts liberty to immigrants. I believe that the U.S should be open minded and considerate of others because we all have fundamental rights that apply to us because we are human.

Human rights are rights given to all human beings. Every single human is entitled to their rights. Sadly, many humans are misinformed on their own rights and many humans put down other humans because of their race, color, social class or ethnicity.
I am taking this topic back home because people of color are constantly having their human rights violated. Here in the United States, “The Land of the Free” many people from Central America and Mexico migrate on a deadly and horrible journey in order to pursue the “American Dream” ummm this isn’t a dream, in reality this place becomes a nightmare for so many undocumented people. People of Latino and Hispanic descent constantly have their human rights violated. Many undocumented people feel like they don’t have the right to freedom of movement because many are afraid of being sent back their country and or afraid of having to start all over. Many families are scared to even step out of their house, their daily lives consist of work to home and home to work all because of fear. PBSKids.org states, “Many undocumented immigrants work very hard to stay "invisible." “They avoid things that will call attention to themselves, or make people ask questions. They feel the need to blend in and disappear, because there's safety in not being noticed.” As stated they live under this constant fear, as humans they should have the right to move around, transport, discover different places but our government implements this idea that if someone is undocumented they can’t have the same equal rights as us which is stupid because we are all humans!!! The right to peaceful assembly in a Latino/Hispanic community almost always includes some type of violence, discrimination and name calling. "Violence or discrimination against Latinos does not tend to resonate among most Americans because Latinos are generally not perceived as Americans but recent immigrants or foreigners with no deep roots and histories in the U.S.," Frances Negrón-Muntaner, the center's director and the lead author of the study, told The Huffington Post. Oh yeah you just read this piece of poop!!! So what they are trying to say since we are Latinos we are just don’t even taken into consideration when it comes to violence and discrimination all because we aren’t American and that my friends are how our human rights are being violated.

Indian culture is a beautiful really by the way they dress to some traditions. And you see I say SOME traditions I don't say all because in their culture I see a lot of shaming and having its own superior group. Which are the men, they are they key to everything, they bring food on the table, they bring honor and are easier to set a marriage. As for a women its alot harder, they are seen as powerless, useless and households; women don't get the same honor as men do. In a documentary I watched a couple years back called It’s a girl stated, “Millions killed, aborted or abandoned, simply because they are girls” Saying that they are already shamed before they are even born or just left because they were born as a female. This is not following the human rights as a women because they are taking away the right to freedom of expression. Women are not able to embrace themselves because of the culture and society the live in because their norms are set a certain way and don't want to get shamed for it. In that documentary it shows and explains a woman struggle to survive. For example, a indian mother admitted that she killed eight of her babies just because they were female but if it was a male she would have kept it. I also believe that it's violating the right to freedom of association because women don't have the same rights as men and are being placed in a different group. This is not only happening in India I can also say it's happening in china. Its really sad because I am A GIRL and if I was born in that country who knows I could have not been alive maybe at least for about five minutes but I would have been buried.

It really makes me angry when women are shamed and are made to feel worthless. It really makes no sense to target women just because of their gender. Women should be given the chance to live and loved, not killed or mistreated. Mothers shouldn't be killing their daughters because it's the child they were given and they should be grateful they can have a girl. Women should be viewed as strong and powerful.

North Korea is a country that people currently living there are not able to express their human rights. North korea have many secretive prison camps used to get the people scared so they can follow the laws. In the camps, they get treated unhuman. That is taking their human right which is “No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment”. (Article 5) This is a problem because if anyone decides to speak up or do something to stop prison camps in North Korea, they can just be put there really easily. That’s the reason why many people are scared to do something about it. Another human right that is taken away from the people living in North Korea is that there is not religious freedom. “Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance. (Article 118) The people should have the right to believe anything they want , not just believe on one thing because it’s required by law.

“Muslims and Syrian Refugees in America”

Most come to America to escape religious persecution and war at home. They want to become American citizens but live in constant torture imposed by those who label them as terrorists due to the 9/11 attacks. In “Muslims Report Rising Discrimination at Work” the article incorporates a personal story of a man. He captions a photo, “Mohammad Kaleemuddin was fired after complaining that his supervisor and several co-workers had called him ‘Osama’ and ‘terrorist.’” (Greenhouse, 2010). This harassment continues as the victims are blamed and punished for something they're not at fault. Muslims are dehumanized and targeted as other life threatening incidents occur where they’re being physically attacked with weapons and killed. Whether it’s being pushed in front of a moving vehicle, attacked with a sharp knife, or getting beat up, Muslims continue to persevere for religious freedom as society terrorizes them.

As Muslims are generalized, other groups are brought into this demonizing stereotype. Our own government takes a huge part into this. Donald Trump suggested registering Muslims in mosques and other stations while Ben Carson compared refugees to rabid dogs. In, “Ben Carson compares Syrian refugees to dogs” the article quotes Carson, “For instance, you know, if there is a rabid dog running around your neighborhood, you’re probably not going to assume something good about that dog, and you’re probably gonna put your children out of the way,” (McCaskill, 2015). This inaccurate analogy is continued by stating how the dogs must be put down in order to create a safe environment. Not just any dog but a rabid one that’s infected with a virus. The refugees fled their country due to the Syrian Civil War. Refugee camps are over saturated. They have lost hope in their country due to all the wars and violence. I am aware that the refugees are not moving within the territorial limits of the state, but I feel like these cases are an exception where they’re coming face to face with death. Rather than finding safety and freedom like they should when they move, they will face discrimination due recent incidents with the Paris attacks and other threats regarding ISIS.

it makes me happy that someone decided to bring up the syrian & muslim refugee issue. This is probably the most important issue that is happening in the world at this moment & people don't understand what those innocent people are going through!

I think the people who come from Syria should be given a chance and not be stereotyped as terrorists. Muslims should not have to be facing discrimination when they're home has been destroyed. These people have nowhere to go and they should be given the help they need. Politicians should welcome syrians instead of pushing them away.

The Country of India is located in the south part in Asia that consists of 29 states. Within the country there is many indigenous groups in which still have low literacy rates because of the resources they can’t receive. Many people specifically women, get many of their human rights taken away because they are at the bottom of society’s hierarchy. Although their society is composed of castes, it so appears that women are at the bottom no matter the caste or non-caste. The freedom of liberty is deprived from women as many are institutionalized against their will without having any disorder or medical need.

Women get institutionalized against men. In many marriages there is usually conflict between each other, but what happens when it gets out of hand? Well in most cases men just say their wife is bipolar or that they have another mental illness. Without any prior check-up the wives get locked up and no one tells them why. Many are given medication without any medical check up nor diagnose. For instance, in the documentary “Women Institutionalized Against their Will in India” there was a Disability rights director who states, “In India, the ea the system is setup, it’s ripe for abuse. Families can take women and girls to institutions where they’re forcibly locked for months if not years” (Shantha Rau Barriga 2014). This shows her analysis on India’s government because she works for HUMAN RIGHTS WATCH. Not only does she research but she deals with cases everyday of women being deprived of their rights.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MpIJJPvn_ZI

The right that is being deprived of women is their right to liberty because they are being held as prisoners in an institution for no reason. Also according to the preamble articles 2, 3, 7, and 19, everyone is offered equality. In article 2 it states, “Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration, without distinction of any kind, such as race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status. Furthermore, no distinction shall be made on the basis of the political, jurisdictional or international status of the country or territory to which a person belongs, whether it be independent, trust, non-self-governing or under any other limitation of sovereignty.” (Universal Declaration of human rights). So why is it that India still keeps women locked up without any right of speaking for themselves? As the years pass, they keep on finding ways to get their voices heard even though the government is male based.

Esther, I really like how you went above and beyond and used youtube videos to back up your reasoning. It is sad to say that even today men use the excuse of a mental illness to send their wives away and the woman is usually the one getting abused.

“To deny people their human rights is to challenge their very humanity” this quote comes from nelson mandela and i feel like this quote is perfect for this subject because it’s trying to state that if you deny the rights of people you will make them question what is humanity. Russia has been known for having harsh anti-gay laws that prohibit any parent or adult to tell a minor that being gay is okay. For example if you are a gay teen and you want someone to talk to well you can’t talk to anyone because an adult cannot tell you it’s okay because they will be going against traditional values you are basically alone. This type of issue is going against the basic human right that everyone is born equal which means that no one should be discriminated against no matter their sexuality, religion, economic status. There have been many cases of russian youth that have been beaten and kidnapped by other young people. The way they get the young gay men is that they act like they are gay specifically on gay websites then they decide to meet somewhere and when they both meet up they could harass him by calling the young man’s parents and telling them that if they’re okay with their son being gay they could also beat the young man and no one would step in or say anything because most russians feel like those young men are doing good by getting rid of the lgbtq community. most of the time these type of cases aren’t being reported because the police would tell you that it’s your fault for being gay, basically saying you brought it upon yourself. It has gotten to the point to where there is special lgbtq self-defense classes because it is very possible to get killed during the day time, Also there is a special taxi service that is specifically aimed for the lgbtq community because it’s not safe to be gay in russia at all.

I find it ridiculous and insane that people are still denied the right to love. I looked for ways to help and I found this link: http://www.russiafreedomfund.org/ There is not much we can do all the way from here but we do have the social media and funds to support those in Russia who are being targeted.

Punishing people for being gay is just absurd overall. No one should be denied the right to choose their preference when it comes down a relationship. I agree with Cynthia about how it is just crazy being denied of love. Love is something psychological and something like that shouldn't be messed with. There is nothing wrong loving whoever the person chooses too.

I decided to do research on the country of North Korea known for its infamous dictator Kim Jong-Un. Speculation has shown that this secluded country violates its occupants basic human rights to inhumane levels. From what we know the citizens of North Korea have limited to absolutely no rights. They can't express what they believe in. They don't even have the freedom of expression to speak up against the unjust treatment they are put through. People are expected to obey without any complaints. The consequences if these expectations are violated are, “ Forms of punishment include beatings, forced exercise, sitting without moving for prolonged periods of time and humiliation” (Amnesty 2016). North Koreans don't have the right to Liberty. They are taught or brainwashed to follow the norms and horrible laws. They can't leave the country to try to escape the cruel environment they are forced to live in. “Travel to another country without state permission; this can carry the death penalty. Despite this, thousands cross the border into China” (Amnesty 2016). Living conditions in North Korea are so unbearable people would rather die in the process of escaping taking the risk of making it to freedom. Other countries and the United Nation have tried to help out this troubled country but all attempts have been denied by North Korea. They don't want anything with the rest of the worlds they follow their own set of laws that violate basic human morals.

North Korea is a sad place. It's unbelievable how they are so isolated from everyone else and how they control everyone. It's sad that the people who live there have no say in their politics and that they don't get to know everything that happens around them. It is not fair that their human rights are taken from them.

North Korea is such a cruel place it dehumanizes its citizens day by day. Does the North Korean government really have the right to call the people living on their soil their "citizens"? Like really if you want to call them your citizens at least treat them with the respect and freedom they rightfully deserve.

Human Rights? Do we all have these human rights we speak of? Sadly some people in this world do not have their human rights. THEY SHOULD!!! One fights for their lives day in and day out to live another day to cherish their lives. If they don't have their basic human rights, then how on this very earth can one "dream" of living another day with security and hope. They just can't. The very least a country can give to its citizens is their rights. Without the they feel dehumanized by not feeling respected by their own country. North Korea is one of the most common, if not, the worst country to not allow its citizens to have their human rights. For example, they have no free speech, because they are being monitored by their government 24/7. If they even violet one of their rules they either get sentenced to torture or face death immediately. Causing the death of one of its citizens seems to be no problem for North Korea. They can care less about ones life as long as theirs prevails to be more dominant than any other. North Korea has restricted areas in which their citizens are not allowed to enter and they can't perform certain activities, Apparently, North Korea seems a bit offended and disgusted by seeing its citizens have joy and happiness. They'd prefer to see them suffer. Also, The Government of North Korea has full control of the media used in its country. The only learning's one will be available to would be about the government. Whether its on the internet, the library, or even advertisements on the streets it will all be about the government and nothing else. Is the government that conceited jaja. They want full attention on themselves and not on its citizens. Hopefully in this world human rights will be granted to all and not few. Human rights are deserved rights, amen.

I agree with you that everyone should have their human rights and that no one should be deprived of them. They are basic rights that every human should have, and North Korea not only takes these rights away , but they basically love to see them suffer. This is both disgusting and inhumane to take a joy in seeing your own people suffer.

Many countries around the world don't obtain human rights, like the country north korea. North Korea is ruled by a dictator name Kim Jong II for about 17 years. People's voices aren't heard and they are also mistreated and tortured by others by others. On the article North Korea (2016) it states,” in North Korea reveal state abuses without parallel in the contemporary world – including extermination, murder, enslavement, torture, imprisonment, rape, forced abortions, and other sexual violence.” This shows how many citizens aren't allowed to have total freedom because they are control by a dictator. Also the people are put into prison camps to work where they face bad mistreatment including children.”The government also practices collective punishment for supposed anti-state offenses, effectively enslaving hundreds of thousands of citizens, including children, in prison camps and other detention facilities where they face deplorable conditions and forced labor.”(world report-2015). Kids don't have a great health conditions do to starvation and some of them are hurt badly that leads to death. When they face death their corpses and wrap and burry and in winter they are gnawed by dogs. Prisoners don't care about their rights and don't have feelings towards them. The only thing they care about is for citizens to obey rules. This reminds me to Hitler because he would discriminate all the jews and place them on camps where they were tortured and put into death. Almost related to North Korea people's voices aren't heard strict rules are put on them that also they can't watch Tv or communicate with others outside the country or they will be punished.

In Iraqi the government has a pattern of human rights violations. "Thousands of detainees languish in prison without charge." says Amnesty International website. They are held without access to family or legal counsel. Tortures and ill-treatments with impunity in prisons and detention centers. In Iraq they have a big percentage of Racial Profiling that's violating a human right because your suppose to be free from discrimination and the right to believe in whatever you want. Also in Iraq the group ISIS has violated many peoples human rights because of their beliefs, there has been many bombings and attacks due to the violation of their beliefs also their has been discrimination against women and forced marriage which also violates a human right because everyone has the right to love and marry whoever they want not to be forced into marriage. In Iraq they also violate the right of not being slaves anymore because they have some Yezidi women and girls in sexual assault and slavery. Also back to the right of freedom to any religious belief they violate that because they create destruction of religious property. "According to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, as of September 2014, more than 900,000 Iraqis were internally displaced due to conflict." says hrw.org.

It's ridiculous that that young girls are getting pregnant and dying from during labor because of these marriages. Rather than having a successful and educated lifestyle, they either die during labor because of how young they are or contract HIV/Aids.

We all know North Korea as a country in which we all make fun off because of their ruler and how their country is ruled. We make fun of their beliefs and their decisions that they decide to do. But in reality, North Korea is one of the most repressive countries in the world. All basic freedoms have been severely removed under the Kim family’s political dynasty and a 2014 UN commission of inequity found that North Korea where without parallel in the contemporary world. These including things such as extermination, murder, enslavement, imprisonment, rape, force etc. North Korea has violated all of human rights one way or another but the ones that they have violated the most are Right of liberty and Right to self-determination. North Korea has violated the Right to Liberty by not giving no one in their country a say or opinion on politics. North Korea shuts their people down and makes them believe what they want them to believe. North Korea forces laws against people going against their politics. They have violet the Right to Self-Determination by not giving the people a say in what king of constitution or government they want, North Korea being one of the most repressive countries in the world does not allow its own people to know much about their own country. North Korea isn’t the only country In which they violate human rights , but it is for sure one of the most oppressive countries in the world

Human rights are rights that we are all born with and nobody can take those away from us. Our country that we live in protects that but there's other countries that violate human rights for their people. North Korea is a country where there's is hardly any human rights. It is extremely isolated and it is controlled by King Jung-un. He has control over everything and people don't have the rights that we do here in the US. For example we have freedom of speech and we are able to express our selfs and what we think. People that live in North Korea are not able to do so. Speaking out against what they believe can be crucial. People can get murdered, torture, and many more things. North Korea has deprived its people from basic human rights, people in North Korea do not know much about their government. Their people have no say in politics at all and their government manipulates them to believe why ever the government what's them to believe. Everything is state controlled. The radio stations, media, the tv and all that can possibly be controlled is controlled by them. North Korea violates the simple human rights that everyone should have since the moment that they're born.

Women in the Middle East have by far the worst Human Rights in the world. A women's life is completely governed by the men in her life. A women cannot go out in public without being accompanied by a male relative and needs the consent of her husband to do almost anything. According to religious beliefs women are not allowed much freedom because they are more susceptible to sin. Women also have a dress code in the Middle East. They are not allowed to wear clothes that show off their beauty and so they are to wear long black cloaks and head scarfs, however this still does not stop police from harassing them for showing too much skin or wearing too much make up. Sports are also a big no no, and if women do compete in sports they are often back lashed for it. As a young women who enjoys expressing herself in various forms such as art, music, sports, etc... I don't know how women survive in such settings. Its like they don't even have any room to breath. This is an extreme form of oppression and an extreme form of denial of human rights. I don't understand why we choose to oppress and deny other human beings their basic human rights. We all need each other. In this world it is crucial for men and women to peacefully and fairly coexist in order to maintain a healthy planet earth. After all a man cannot create another human being on his own. Without women men cease to exist.

It is very interesting how the government allows this because like you said their human rights basically don't exist and they are so limited to express themselves in any type of form. I think that wearing a cloak itself is hiding each individual from the world and is like a caged animal being dragged by a man. This seriously needs to be taken in consideration because if religion is involved it makes things so much complicated and it can be used to that people can take advantage of women.

This is so wrong. Why can't a woman go somewhere by herself? And having to cover their body and can't play any sports? This is so wrong in so many ways. This violates her rights in all different freedoms. Woman should be able to wear whatever they want and go wherever they want.

• Women in Isis are not allowed the basic human rights such as freedom and equality because in Isis the men are allowed to marry off their daughters without their say so. In Isis women are not allowed to drive this is another way that women basic rights are being violated. In “Independent”, Heather Saul explain how women in Isis basic human rights of freedom and right to liberty are being violated, “Isis has released a manifesto detailing the role of women in the jihadist group - stating it is "legitimate" for girls to be married to fighters at the age of nine and emphasising their role as wives, mothers and homemakers.” Here Heather Saul explain how it legal for father to sale their daughter and make money off of it which is basically human trafficking. This violates women rights because the daughter never have a say so on who she marry; it violate the mother right to speak up because the father is the head of the house hold and therefore he got to make the choices. In Isis women right of liberty is violated because women aren’t allowed to drive it is forbidden in the video that Heather Saul post on “independent” how if a women try to drive a men are allowed to beat her.

At nine I was playing with my friends , no where near thinking about being a wife and having children. This is violating a girl's rights of her life and body.

In North Korea, the citizens/inhabitants that are currently living there are being oppressed due to the denying of their human rights. For example, in Article 5, it states, “No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment”. However, did you know they have secret prison camps? This reminds me of Hitler´s secret concentration camps where people were treated unfairly and inhumane. This is a growing problem because if one does choose to speak up against this injustice, they themselves can be placed into prison camps. The silence also goes against their right to free speech. Something else I found really interesting but sad is that they must practice one religion or else they are thought of as the enemy trying to influence others into their own teachings. Everyone should have the opportunity to practice their own religion and not be enforced to practice one that they don believe in.

What are human rights? Human rights are the basic rights than all people deserve to have. If everyone is supposed to have these rights then how come they are limited in other countries?
North Korea, a country that is always getting made fun of because of the tyrant ruler they have. They never get the empathy it truly deserves from other countries. For example they get denied their natural human rights such as, freedom of expression. People in North Korea are punished for speaking their mind, they can possibly be killed just for breaking that “law”. Women in the prison of North Korea get raped by the prison guards and are not able to stand up against it because they will get sentenced to death or sent to prison camp. They barely feed people because they spend millions on luxury facilities and goods, and weapons. There's also human trafficking and forced labor, the prison population and workers exported overseas are often victims of forced labor. Also the freedom of religion is for everyone but in North Korea Christians are viewed of a threat to the stability of the regime because of the role they played in the fall of the soviet union and other communist regimes.

This is very closely related to the situation happening in Syria. In case they refuse to compromise, they are being persecuted for standing up for what they think is right.

Human Rights are a set of thirty rights that every single person has. They are entitled to these laws since birth no matter where in the world they live. Unfortunately, the laws aren't protected in a lot of countries. One of those countries is Syria.
Syria is a country constantly facing a power struggle. They have a civil war in hands affecting the entire population of the country in one way or another. Everything started because the residents of Syria were tired of the governing family. The government didn't like this and fought back to maintain their power in very inhumane ways. This violates a couple of Human Rights. One of them is the right of No Torture, no one has the right to hurt us or torture us even though their own government is carrying out deliberate attacks on the population.
Another Human right that is being violated in Syria is the freedom of thought. We are meant to be protected to have our own beliefs and religion, but people are being persecuted and killed for this same reason. Islamic extremists in Syria specifically target Christians and aim to kill them.
