Warm up: When you look at the title The Future Leaders Institute, what comes to mind? What do you think the organization is about? Who are the future leaders? What kind of leaders does the future need? How much can an organization help develop future leaders? Who are future leaders working for?

The mission of The Future Leaders Institute is to engage high school and college students in generating and implementing visionary solutions for society. The Future Leaders Institute (FLI) guides and mentors youth across the San Francisco Bay Area as they develop individual initiatives and employ social entrepreneurship in the face of the world’s most pressing needs.

Comment below with at least a 100 word post reflecting on the questions above.

After I look the title Future Leaders Institute that first thing that came to my mind was that they are going to be leaders that will care about others and will lead us through freedom and peace to this country. Also Future Leaders Institute means to me that they are people like me; ordinary people that care about others and are willing to suffer in order to change our lives as Americans. I think that this organization is going to prepare us as college students to become the future leaders of America and around the world. I think that this organization will provide to us the college students the resources to become the future leaders. I believe that the kind of leaders that our future needs are the ones who are willing to serve rather than lead, be able to come out with solutions to problems that we face every day as Americans, that like to work together and share different ideas to change injustice in America. I think that future leaders are working to provide to everyone in the United States the resources to overcome injustice and help to defend our rights that we as Americans deserve and work for.

When I look at the title Future Leaders Institute, I imagine a group of people who are ready to dedicate a piece of their lives to making a difference in their community. For whatever their focus may be, they are equally motivated as they understand their energy together as an institute will affect each other's progress. But more importantly, they understand how important the words "Future" and "Leader" actually are.

As stated in the FLI mission, the focus is on high school and college students, which I agree with in terms of our future, but maybe it doesn't have to stop there. I believe a leader can emerge at any age as long as they are willing to put in the time and tears. Not all people experience their life changing moment that awakens them to their passion to lead at a young age. I think a leader is someone who is willing to lead by example and can continue to fight through all the criticism. Our future needs leaders like these because our community deserves leaders who won't give up on them, mainly because at the end of the day, they understand they are a part of that same community. The community needs someone who they can relate to and somehow help them understand the power in numbers, so they will have the courage to make a difference as well.

An organization can help develop a leader because no matter what their passion may be, all members involved are there for the same reason: To see a change. It's an elite network of likeminded people who are willing to share their experiences and creative theories in order to help each other grow the confidence to present their ideas to the world. Our future leaders will be working for themselves and the people of their community.

Looking at the title The Future Leaders Institute, one thing comes to mind: the next generation. How can we create a future that will be beneficial for the next generation? The future generation? What can we do as leaders or future leaders to defeat the ongoing oppression today that possess such limitations so that our next generation can have better opportunities? All of these questions comes to mind when I think of The Future Leaders Institute, ultimately making it the primary reason why I joined. I want to learn from the leaders of today and leaders of tomorrow and the people as a whole who are one of the key parts for a movement to progress. To be able to understand and become allies of all shunned and oppressed voices. Because the future leaders are us! The generation now, the ones that have so much to say but encounter so many obstacles and limited opportunities because at the end of the day, future leaders aren't doing this solely just for ourselves, they are doing it for the present and future generations.
And with the help of an organization, people who want to become future leaders will realize what their strengths and weaknesses are and how to channel it, and with the support from the organization, comes the drive to continue on to work hard and spread positivity and change what needs to be changed.

When I see the title “The Future Leaders Institute”, it makes me think of the youth. I picture dedicated, passionate people who are ready to organize. Whether the passion comes from anger, association, affliction, these people will want to make a change in the world. It sounds like this organization aims to cultivate leadership skills in the younger generation. I think that an organization can have a huge influence on future leaders; the organization can help these leaders build connections and network with other people who may propel the leaders’ movement forward. Future leaders will work for their community and other communities to build strong relationships between allies.

Seeing the title"The Future Leaders Institute", I imagine a prestigious school for people who want to start a business. Even though Doctor Crain informed us that we'll be able to establish a business by the end of the quarter, learning business just came to mind. Also, I remember that Doctor Crain mentioned her take over of the institute.

Perhaps the organization is about training people to gain a variety of skills wanted in a leader, so those people can apply their skills in real life. Maybe the organization aims to provide communities with individuals fit to lead others.

The future leader is anybody who will guide a group of people. Future leaders can be selfless or have greed. They can bring the human race closer to peace or closer to destruction. The future leader is anybody who sets their mind to lead. Our future needs leaders who value human life, strong relationships, education, fairness. We need leaders who take responsibility for their actions and seek fairness in everybody.
We need leaders who think critically.

An organization can help as much as they mean to for the development of future leaders. If there's a will, there's a way.
Depending on the future leaders' intentions, future leaders work for public justice, bankers, corporations, homeless people, immigrants, gender equality, racial equality, old people, students, or themselves.
